Flexible screw conveyors, also known as spiral or centreless auger conveyors, consist of a flexible screw/spiral in a flexible or rigid tube, driven by an electric motor usually at the discharge point but could be used in some applications as a ‘’pusher’’.
Materials of construction are according to the application. For example, flexible screw conveyors manufactured for food or plastics applications implement screws fabricated of carbon or stainless steel, with a plastic or steel outer tube. It is a relatively simple design, and generally the most economical choice, with efficient performance, high reliability, and low capital and operating costs. When properly engineered and tested, screw conveyors provide excellent performance across various applications and most materials. To tackle difficult-to-handle materials that tend to bridge, pack, cake, smear, or fluidise, including fragile materials prone to breakage/damage, Trantec manufactures different spiral types designed explicitly for conveying materials with these characteristics.
Over recent months Trantec Solids Handling Limited has helped various ’blue chip’ companies and small businesses with their manufacturing capability.
